We are a group of like-minded individuals with an interest in our Heritage. We raise funds for the National Trust by supporting specific appeals. Projects we have supported recently include: Wimpole, to help complete the avenue of trees; Hatfield Forest to purchase hedge cutting equipment; Anglesey Abbey Skylight Garden Project, children's benches and play equipment; and at Flatford Mill to provide a Bird Hide. This fundraising is achieved through our outings programme by coach or public transport to such diverse places as Eltham Palace, Bowood House, Sudeley Castle, Sandhurst Military Academy, and various National Trust Properties.
We also have social events such as Quizzes, Christmas Lunches and Theatre trips. Our evening meetings from September to May, together with afternoon meetings from October to May, are friendly and sociable occasions. They usually consist of an illustrated talk about National Trust houses, gardens and countryside, or other interesting topics e.g. antiques, art, architecture, travel etc., together with refreshments.
As you would expect, our activities have been curtailed, but we are gradually getting back to normality!
